The tacked house
La Casa Hilvanada is an exhibition-installation that is thought of as an exercise of how to live in an artistic way in an everyday space.
Part of an exhibition named Ejercicios de Domismo, amalgamates of six exhibitions that took part over the course of 2003 in different localities in Tenerife. In each of these locations, habitable or inhabitable place were chosen, depending on it’s localization, history or potential, art pieces and images were produced, works that had a more or less direct or metaphorical relationship with these places.
In La casa Hilvanada three artists in the field of plastic art took part: Cristina Gámez, Lena Peñate and Tahiche Díaz. They selected a house built in the eighteenth century in part of the old quarter in La Laguna. It is a four hundred square meter two storey house, it was under restoration which made it of even greater interest. As a result of this survey a series of art pieces were produced where questions relating to time, to mirrors and reflections, to shadows and ghosts, etc, are posed, presenting a marked metaphorical character.
